The first AMI course in Munich was conducted under the guidance of Mario Montessori, after which the centre became an important educational hub for training teachers and implementing inclusive pedagogy. The Montessori Adult Education MAE GmbH was the first in the world to introduce a programme for working with children with special needs in integrated groups. This approach to education was groundbreaking in the field of special education, where children with various challenges learned alongside their peers.

The establishment of the centre was greatly supported by and benefited from collaboration with Dr. Theodor Hellbrügge, a paediatrician and chairman of the organisation "Aktion Sonnenschein," which provided assistance to children with special needs.

Since its foundation, the Montessori Adult Education MAE GmbH has been dedicated to training educators specialising in working with children aged 0 to 6, including those with disabilities. The centre continues to grow and actively collaborates with international educational institutions, spreading the Montessori philosophy worldwide.

The foundation operates in more than 140 countries, organising international teacher training sessions and educational programmes that support the emotional, intellectual, and moral development of children.

AMI also conducts active research in the fields of education and child development, reaffirming the relevance of the method in today's world.
